You're probably wondering what context I'm talking about when I say bad ass, right?
When I hear that term 1000 possibilities pop into my head.
The first thing I think of is one of those motorcyclists in a leather jacket- though I could never see myself being that kind of bad ass, I know many people who are- especially women pulling that type of "bad ass-ness" off.
The next thing I think of are all the moms out there trying to keep it all together. I don't think people who have never had to deal with the day-to-day tasks to truly understand what moms go through- I mean c'mon if you can take care of an infant (which = 24/7 surveillance unless you're paying someone or have really awesome family/friends), entertain a toddler, occupy a dog, juggle the laundry, prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner for your family, keep the house semi-under control and still find creative ways to make money...in my mind you're definitely a BAD ASS.
However, the type of bad ass I want to talk about today, was inspired by a blog post I got today in regards to creating a bad ass career for yourself. It got me thinking, am I doing everything I can to set myself up to be a bad ass? To have a bad ass career? To have bad ass friends? I know I am becoming a little redundant here with the word bad ass but seriously, think about it- are you living the life you want to be living?
Some things to consider:
1. You are the company you keep.
If you want to be a bad ass, hang out with bad ass people. In other words, if you want to be a successful, independent, fun-to-be-around woman (or man)...
SURROUND YOURSELF WITH THOSE TYPES OF PEOPLE
2. If you don't like it, change it. If you don't change it, stop complaining about it.
Example: If you're not happy with the amount of time you're devoting to your health... eat better, exercise- even if that means taking your dog or just yourself for a power walk, remember you're doing more than those still sitting on the couch, and spend some time in the sunshine.
3. Whatever you decide to do to be a bad ass, remember to set goals.
SMART ones at that: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Timely GOALS.
4. Hold yourself accountable and stay true to yourself.
If you have a hard time holding yourself accountable, try writing things down in your planner (schedule it into your life). Also, talk to your loved ones about it- when you talk about it, it makes you want to be about it.
5. Stop procrastinating, making excuses for yourself, and just be a flippin' bad ass....go for it!
I know this is sort of a rambling kind of blog post, but I am taking my own advice with this.
I am pursuing my dreams in my professional life, I am working towards financial freedom no matter how many hours I have to put in a week with whatever number of jobs I end up working, and I am holding myself accountable for exercising weekly (sometimes that means 1 gym day a week and 3 good walks and sometimes that means 3 gym days a week and a good walk every day or not). Either way I am getting out there, I am making it a priority, and I am putting forth the effort.
Those are 3 different types of goals to make myself a better bad ass.
What are your goals and dreams?
How are you a bad ass?
